National Library Week

National Library WeekCommunities Matter @ your Library during National Library Week.  Stop by NVPL this week and find out how the library supports your community.  Today, we will be serving coffee and treats from local businesses. Tomorrow,  grab a packet of seeds from the Stevensville Community Garden.  Bring your little one to an engaging storytime (Tuesday & Wednesday @ 10:30) or practice your Spanish language skills at our weekly Spanish Conversation Group (Wednesday @ 6:00).  All week, let us know how the library can improve this community and enter your name for tickets to the upcoming production of Wizard of Oz at the Stevensville Community Playhouse or a gift certificate to area businesses.  We hope to see you at the library!

Movie Matinee @ 12:00

We’re celebrating all things Irish this month, at the library!  Stop in at 12:00 today to view a free film steeped in Irish folklore.  A 10 year old girl is sent to live with her grandparents in a small fishing village in Donegal, Ireland and learns the legends of her ancestors.  This is a great film for the entire family.  Contact the library for title information at 777-5061.

Family Literacy Night – Tonight @ 5:00!

snowThe snow is falling and it feels like winter once again.  What better time to bring your family to the library to learn how animals live in the cold and snowy Montana winters.   In collaboration with Ranger Bob Danley from Lee Metcalf, the Montana Natural History Museum and the Teller Wildlife Refuge, the library will host enriching activity stations such as animal track mysteries and winter poem writing.  Make a snow globe to take home!   This event is free and all ages are welcome to participate.   Tonight from 5:00-6:30 PM in the community room.

Family Literacy Night with Lee Metcalf Refuge

winterJoin us this Thursday, February 28 from 5:00-6:30 for a special Family Literacy Night with guest, Ranger Bob, from Lee Metcalf Refuge.   Discover activities for all ages featuring how animals live during the winter months.  Explore animal tracks and hibernation techniques; read stories and poems about winter; and create a snow globe to take home.  This is a free educational event that is important for literacy development, science enrichment  and will help create an early love for the library.  We hope you will join us for this fun and educational evening.  Contact Caitlin @ 777-5061.

Teddy Bear Sleepover – Friday!

Only two more nights until the first library Teddy Bear Sleepover!  NVPL will be joining the Bitterroot and Darby Public Libraries to promote the value of early literacy development through this enriching family event.  On Friday from 5:00-6:00 PM bring your little one and their favorite stuffed animal friend to the library for a pre-sleepover storytime where stories, music and a craft will prepare your child to say goodnight to their teddy.  The next day, find out the adventures your teddy had in the library and bring home a special surprise!  We hope you will join us for The Teddy Bear Sleepover!   Help your child find an early love for the library.

Herb Chat Today

 valentines dayAphrodisiac’s Herbs:  Add  a little spice!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day.  Celebrate health, love and community connectivity at the library the Outlaw Herbalist’s Herb Chat.  Today from 12:00-1:30 pm, Jessica will discuss how herbs  can supply you and your loved ones with relaxation, nourishment and stimulation in the form of tinctures, essential oils, tonics and body care products.  Herb Chats are held in the community room on the second Tuesday of the month.  Contact Caitlin at (406)777-5061.

Saturday Movie Matinee

film1 (1)During the month of February, the library is celebrating Library Lovers Month.  Show your love and stop by the library tomorrow at 12:00 for our free Saturday Movie Matinee.  Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal try to maintain the perfect friendship in this iconic romantic comedy.  With exceptional music from Harry Connick Jr. this film is hard to beat when it comes to modern day love stories.    Free and open to all.
