Eligibility for Borrowing
In order to obtain a library card, adults must present a photo ID and have a current mailing address.
Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or present a permission slip signed by a registered adult who will be responsible for overdue, lost or damaged library materials in order to get a library card. (Limited use cards are available to minors who cannot obtain the signature of a parent or legal guardian.)
Loan Period and Renewal
All items check out for 28 days, except new adult fiction (14 days) and DVDs (14 days).
Materials may be renewed over the phone or online twice before they are due, unless the item is on hold for another patron.
Patrons with overdue materials are assessed a fine of $0.10 per day per item overdue.
Patrons are responsible for the cost of replacing any lost or damaged materials, plus a processing fee.
Materials not owned by NVPL or a Partner library may be ordered through interlibrary loan (ILL). There is a $1.00 per item fee due at the time of pick up to help defray the cost of shipping. Patrons are limited to five ILL items at a time.
The date due for each item will be indicated on the receipt you receive at the time you check out your items. Renewals of ILL items may be permitted by request. Overdue fines for ILL materials are $1.00 per item per day.
The library building is accessible to people with disabilities. Accessible restrooms are also available.
