We have books! And DVDs, videos, CDs, eBooks, audiobooks…the list goes on! If we don’t have it, chances are one of our Partner Libraries does. Still can’t find it? We’ll order it for you through interlibrary loan. There are many ways to obtain the materials you need, so if you don’t find them, don’t be shy! Ask us for help.
Search the catalog to get started.
To obtain a library card, adults will need a photo ID and a current mailing address. People under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or present a permission slip signed by a registered adult who will be responsible for overdue, lost or damaged library materials. (Limited-use cards may be issued to minors who cannot obtain an adult’s signature.)
Download and print the Library Card Application.
All items check out for 28 days, except new books (14 days) and DVDs (14 days). Materials may be renewed twice, unless they are on hold for another patron.
There is a $0.10 per item, per day fine for overdue materials. Patrons are responsible for the cost of replacing any lost or damaged materials, plus a processing fee.
Materials not owned by NVPL or a Partner library may be ordered through interlibrary loan (ILL). There is a $1.00 per item fee due at the time of pick up to help defray the cost of shipping. Patrons are limited to five ILL items at a time. Overdue fines for interlibrary loan materials are $1.00 per item per day. Renewals of ILL items may be permitted by request.
Please note that items borrowed from our Partner Libraries or through interlibrary loan may have different checkout periods. The date due for each item you check out will be indicated on the receipt you receive at the time of check out.
We have desktops! Patrons may use their library card to log onto library-provided desktop computers for 60 minutes per day. A limited number of guest passes are available from the checkout desk for people without a library card.
We have laptops, too! Patrons must have a library card and a driver’s license, which they will leave at the checkout desk in order to use a laptop for 60 minutes per day. Patrons age 18 or older may substitute a state-issued identification card in lieu of a driver’s license. The library may occasionally host events wherein the driver’s license requirement for laptop use will be waived.
If you have your own laptop, bring it in and connect to our wifi.
