The nonprofit NVPL Foundation Board and its subcommittee, Friends of the Library, raise money to support the North Valley Public Library. Both groups are seeking new members who have a passion for libraries and want to see our local library thrive. There are no residency requirements for either group.

The NVPL Foundation Board is the primary fundraiser for the library and its focus is on raising money for a future library building, including overseeing a capital campaign and seeking major and transformative gifts. Board members must be able to attend monthly board meetings (either virtually via Zoom or at the Stevensville library) and capital campaign experience is a plus.

For more information, please contact NVPL Foundation Board President Carla Sanders at harrisonsanders@aol.com.

Friends of the Library aids the North Valley Public Library through beautification and support roles, and organizes fundraising and community events throughout the year. These include the Spring Soiree, Creamery Picnic parade, Birdies for Books golf scramble, Big Book Sale, Holiday Bookorations, as well as Brews for Books pint nights at local breweries.

GIVING TREE

The “Giving Tree” wall art, being placed south of the entry way of our current building, is designed to be easily moved to a prominent location in our future Library building. MMW Architects is busy transforming months of community surveys, input meetings, research, and consultations into a cost estimate at which time a capital campaign can commence toward bringing the community’s dream of a new Library building into a reality.

Provided by the Foundation, the Giving Tree is not only a beautiful and lasting thank you to individual donors but also a deeply thought-out tribute to the legacy of our community. Featuring deep roots, as befits the Bitterroot, the tree itself is an apple tree, in honor of Stevensville and the surrounding area’s history of apple orchards.

If you would like to contribute to the future of the community and have your name or your loved ones memorialized, either in the building itself or on one of the leaves, apples, roots, or stones of the Giving Tree, contact the Foundation.
